ESAB welding power sources are cloud compatible
As companies around the world seek to optimize their operations through digitization, ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has announced that its advanced welding power sources Aristo 4004i Pulse, Aristo 5000i and Aristo U5000i are sold exclusively as compatible systems. WeldCloud. The Aristo 500ix will continue to be sold as an optional WeldCloud system. To encourage use, ESAB will offer Aristo buyers a free three-month trial period, which can be activated at any time.
WeldCloud is a suite of online data management applications that enables users to improve overall operational efficiency by monitoring, capturing, tracking and analyzing data to make intelligent decisions based on precise information. WeldCloud compatible machines have an integrated communication module that digitally connects the machine to WeldCloud via WiFi.
“By using WeldCloud to identify and remove production bottlenecks, users can improve their arc time factor by 10-50% in the first year of implementation,” says Jon Hofmann, Global Director of products – Digital Solutions, ESAB. “WeldCloud can also eliminate thousands of hours of worthless time, increase customer responsiveness, reduce operational costs and increase profit margins. “
ESAB offers three WeldCloud solutions to meet the needs of different welding professionals:
• WeldCloud Productivity is designed for operations and production managers. It tracks information generated by the welding process: arc ignition time, number of welding sessions, wire usage, deposition rate and many other metrics. Users can also ‘tag’ or link this information to provide full weld traceability, which can include barcode / QR code reading of variables such as operator badges, wire lot, and WPS. With real-time data and accurate numbers, users can get insight into which operations are working efficiently and which need to be improved.
• WeldCloud Fleet is the new digital assistant to a service or maintenance manager designed to manage a fleet of welding equipment at one or more sites. With event and service logs, as well as real-time alerts, service managers know which machines are performing well and which machines need to be repaired or replaced. WeldCloud Fleet also reminds them of maintenance and calibration schedules, and allows them to update software or welding schedules remotely instead of manually configuring each machine.
• WeldCloud Notes is ideal for quality control managers as it improves welding documentation by digitizing and automating manual processes. It reduces administration costs, minimizes liability risk and ensures compliance and quality assurance in project execution. WeldCloud Notes allows four essential tasks:
o Maintain quality and compliance while managing PQR and WPS documents in one place;
o Effectively review all PQR, WPS and WPQ information with quick and easy search;
o Generate a PQR or WPQ with all the essential variables; and
o Avoid a missed qualification period or a waste of resources in re-qualification of welders.
WeldCloud uses the Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform, which makes it extremely reliable and secure. If the wireless connection is interrupted, WeldCloud continues to save data for up to a week and restores the data after the Wi-Fi connection is restored. All data is password protected and users can set different levels of access and permissions.
“WeldCloud does not require a sophisticated IT department and is extremely scalable,” adds Hoffman. “Any operation facing a shortage of qualified welders or facing the difficulty of meeting customer demand can benefit from an Aristo connected system. “
A WeldCloud compatible machine can be activated at any time through a local ESAB sales representative or by sending an email to [email protected] All applications can be managed on a personal computer. Intuitive dashboards and analytical functions only take about an hour to learn how to use. To manage applications with a mobile device, ESAB introduced the WeldCloud Connect software tool. It works with any Android smartphone or tablet with OS 6.0 and above. With WeldCloud Connect, users can configure equipment, add traceability to welding sessions, calculate deposition rate, and link WeldCloud Productivity to WeldCloud Notes. ESAB also offers a Zebra touchscreen handheld. They are extremely rugged smartphones that also have a built-in barcode reader, so they are ideal for the store environment.
The Aristo series is ESAB’s first advanced synergic multi-process system for manual and robotic welding. The Aristo 4004i Pulse has an output of 400A at 60% duty cycle and is ideal for pulse MIG welding and advanced MIG process control. The Aristo Mig 5000i and U5000i (for robotic welding) offer 500A output at 60% duty cycle for wire welding processes and are also TIG capable with HF or Lift-TIG arc starts and pulsed DC outputs. ESAB designed the Aristo 500ix for heavy industrial applications requiring extreme durability; it is a true multi-process system – MIG, Pulsed, Flux-Cored, Stick, TIG MIG with Lift-TIG arc starts and gouging. The Aristo 1000 AC / DC (1000A at 100% duty cycle) for SAW allows users to switch from DC to AC on the fly and nonstop root-to-cap soldering, delivering deposition rates up to 76% higher and 47% reduced welding time.
Aristo units work with Robust Feed U6 or U82 wire feeders, which offer advanced process control functions to provide more consistent weld quality, solve labor skill issues, improve productivity and reduce downtime. operating costs through greater availability. Robust Feed’s PreciDrive wire drive system is extremely precise and responsive, providing better arc starts and stops. The charger design also offers additional benefits including a premium moisture and dust (IP44) housing to protect the wire spool, an integrated heater and flow meter, and well-designed ergonomics.
